Innovative Benefit Planning is excited to welcome Shemelia McClain as our new employee benefit Executive Account Manager. Shemelia brings to Innovative more than 20 years of experience as an account manager and leader in the employee benefits industry. In her new role as Executive Account Manager, Shemelia will be responsible for strengthening and maintaining Innovative’s relationships with its current clients and ensuring the continued growth, strategy, retention and profitability of their employee benefits programs.
Shemelia will lead and manage the day-to-day projects of account managers and others in the employee benefits practice to ensure a high level of client satisfaction and account competency. In conjunction, she will work closely with our client development and leadership team by efficiently managing the back-office operations to ensure all deadlines and communications are met.

Prior to accepting this position, Shemelia served as the Senior Account Manager for a Philadelphia based employee benefits firm where she was responsible for providing strategic creative financial and employee benefit solutions to 501(c) 3 not-for-profit corporations, including over one hundred social service and philanthropic businesses in non-wage compensation. During this time, she gained valuable experience in need-based analysis, data collection and assimilation, proposal generation, financial negotiation, executive board and union presentations, communication blueprint development along with program implementation, guidance on benefit fulfillment, client retention and oversite of an internal support team.
Shemelia holds a Certified Self-Funding Professional Certificate from the National Association of Health Underwriters. In addition, she is a Licensed Individual Resident Producer in Accident and Health, Life and Fixed Annuities and is due to receive her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
