On Wednesday June 18th, Innovative’s Ryan Kastner, Employee Benefits Consultant, and Scott Agostini, Managing Director, were invited to speak at the NJAC (New Jersey Athletic Conference) semi-annual Board of Athletic Directors meeting in Atlantic City, where they educated the attendees on the possible effects of Health Care Reform to their industry. As the first guest speakers in the NJAC Board’s history, Ryan and Scott were honored to represent Innovative Benefit Planning as a firm dedicated to the community by providing these educational sessions to groups within our community.
The presentation was interactive and included an explanation of the provisions that directly affect this particular audience, in particular the Play or Pay provision. The variable hour structure of some coaches will present a challenge in deciding if they must be offered benefits. Ryan and Scott reviewed the Standard Measurement and Stability Periods integral to the Play or Pay provision, which should be used to determine eligibility for all variable and part time employees. If an employee meets the eligibility requirements as determined by these periods, he/she must be offered coverage in order to comply with PPACA.
As Health Care Reform experts, our Consultants are happy to assist you in navigating through these numerous, and often confusing, regulations. We understand that the key to improving the Healthcare system in the United States is education to businesses and individuals about the ongoing changes. Innovative is committed to serving the community by providing topical information to employers and community organizations.
