Marketplace Enrollment Deadline Is Delayed For Some

The March 31, 2014 deadline for enrolling in the Marketplace is less than a week away, but for those who have at least started the enrollment process by that deadline, there will not be a penalty for an incomplete application.  According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a special enrollment period will be made available until mid-April to those consumers that are in the process of completing the application.

If a consumer would like to ask for an extension, they simply need to check a box on Healthcare.gov stating that they have started the application process (though this information cannot be verified by HHS).  For those consumers that apply for an extension after mid-April, they will be required to call and provide evidence of qualifying for a special enrollment period.
