Model Notices on PPACA Grievance and Appeal Rules

The Department of Labor this week published its model notices under the PPACA Claims and Appeals Regulation, providing model notices that can be used in connection with adverse benefit determinations, appeals of adverse benefit determinations, and a final external review decision. DOL also published Technical Release 2010-1, which provides an interim enforcement safe harbor for plans that are subject to the federal external review process. It details many new requirements with which these plans will have to comply.
